What my "Spotify Wrapped" Taught me

Since Spotify dropped the "Your Top Songs 2022" playlist, it's pretty much all I've been listening to (which isn't that shocking, as it was apparently all I listened to in 2022). As I've been listening, and re-listening, it's become obvious how much music affects the outcome of our lives.
I've known this for a long time, actually...That what we listen to becomes a direct reflection of our vibration, or frequency. Of our life. If we listen to violent, angry, music most often, we likely are angry and sometimes violent people. If we listen to sad girl, depressing music (something I used to be very guilty of) we likely have a tendency to feel sad or go into depressive episodes more often. If we listen to calm, meditation music most often, we likely reflect a calm demeanor in the world. If we listen to lyrics that complain of anxiety and fear, we're probably anxious and fearful people. Now, as always, I'm a big fan of balance. I listen to A LOT of "spiritual, meditative, hippie, good-vibe" music; and I also turn up to Cardi, Nicki, and SZA from time to time. I still find myself enjoying my sad-girl playlists here and there, and I'm not against a well-timed angry banger.
With that said, I am very purposeful when it comes to what's penetrating my ears. There are some songs I will immediately turn off if they come on the radio. I may even head to the bathroom at a party or gathering if the room is vibing to something I don't align with.
This post is not intended to shame anyones music choices - but instead, to offer a moment of reflection on them. What are you listening to, and what does your life look like? Would you like your life to look any different than it currently does? And if so, is there a way that your music choices can become a reflection of that?

When listening to my wrapped playlist, I noticed that some of the songs have become a direct manifestation of things in my current life, and things to come, and I'm so happy with them. I noticed a theme of "fire" or "the phoenix" (which was also reflected in a lot of my personal writing). Much of my music was about being in tune with the elements, and nature, and that feels true to my being. There were moments of listening that I laughed aloud because they're so uncannily obvious that my life has become the music. Prime example: "Little Moon" by Gone Gone Beyond. It's a song my boyfriend and I became obsessed with early last year and there is a lyric in there that says, "Let's get blown away, every day with you is like a holiday, somewhere really fancy like the coast of Spain..." We listened to that song probably 100 times last year, and now we'll be on the coast of Spain in less than three months.
My music is something that deeply informs my movement practice. I dance, stretch, sing, shake, and meditate almost daily to these songs and I've never felt more in tune with my body, my relationships, and as I said before, nature. So, I became inspired to make a shortened version of the playlist to share with others who are looking for more "good-vibe" music, but maybe don't know where to start.
I know music is super personal, so every song might not be "for you" but I invite you to listen to the link below with an open mind and an open heart. To explore the natural movement your body wants to take as you listen. To save songs that make you feel something, and move on from songs that don't. And, if you feel so inclined, to reach out to me to discuss, and share songs that you know, which could become a favorite for me in 2023. Music is connection. It is the highest art form and should be shared often. So please, feel free to share yours with me as well.
Happy listening friends. Namaste.
